Bra(da)mante starts with a formal analysis of the Chiostro del Bramante, of its architecture: As the Ancients used musical harmony (diapason) to build visible harmony in a building, so we take the opposite route: translate the visible harmony of the cloister into harmony of sound through ratios, trajectories, beat, physical balances. A reflection on man's relationship with the infinite, his condition of being eternally divided between pure matter and pure thought, his persisting desire to escape the force of gravity and the very impossibility of this flight. The perception of this wish, so present within the space, makes it necessary to compare and investigate this tension, easily summarized in the dichotomy weight /lightness. The tension is no more than a movement from one to another of these opposites. A sensorial passage of the audiance through the spaces of the cloister. The path is defined by their reaction to 3 forays in 3 different moments. Three performing actions that play on the relationship lightness / weight, from the spatial dimension, to the definition of the ratio in other senses, according to the concepts of existence, finiteness, lightheartedness... By involving the viewer making him move physically through space of the cloister and mentally on the thin thread of this reflection. |
